1. Acceptance
By accessing or using TrainRun, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use TrainRun. By creating an account, you confirm that you meet this age requirement. This is consistent with COPPA requirements and YouTube's minimum age.
3. The Service
TrainRun is an educational software platform that converts text, topics, and video transcripts into interactive word-collection learning exercises. You provide content, our AI processes it, and you engage with the vocabulary and concepts through active recall. TrainRun does not offer prizes, gambling, virtual currency, or user-to-user competitions. The service is designed solely for educational purposes — helping users learn and retain information from their study materials.
4. User Content
You retain rights to the content you submit. By submitting content, you grant TrainRun the limited rights necessary to process that content and generate learning materials. You are responsible for ensuring you have the right to use any content you upload or submit for processing. TrainRun transforms content into study materials but does not grant ownership over third-party content. Processed transcripts may be cached globally to improve performance for all users. We do not publish, share, or display your input to other users. TrainRun may refuse or remove material that appears to infringe on third-party rights.
5. Prohibited Content
You may not submit content containing: child sexual abuse material, instructions for weapons of mass destruction, doxxing with intent to harass, terrorist recruitment material, or attempts to manipulate the AI system. Violations result in immediate account termination.
6. Subscriptions, Billing, and Cancellation
TrainRun offers a free tier with usage limits (2 runs and 5 minutes of play time per rolling 24-hour window) and paid Pro subscriptions (monthly or annual) with unlimited, ad-free access. Free-tier users may watch opt-in rewarded video ads to extend their limits: +1 bonus run when the run limit is reached, or +5 minutes of bonus play time when the time limit is reached. A student discount is available with a valid .edu email. All subscriptions are recurring — you will be charged automatically at the start of each billing period until you cancel. Prices are displayed before checkout and include applicable taxes where required. All payment processing is handled by Stripe. By subscribing, you authorize Stripe to charge your chosen payment method on a recurring basis.
7. Free Trial and Promotional Offers
If a free trial is offered, you will be clearly informed of the trial duration and the price that will apply when the trial ends before you provide payment information. You may cancel at any time during the trial without being charged. If you do not cancel before the trial expires, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid plan at the stated price.
8. Cancellation and Refunds
You may cancel your subscription at any time through the Manage Subscription option in the app, which opens the Stripe Billing Portal. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period — you retain Pro access until then. No partial refunds are issued for unused time within a billing period. Cancellation is available through the same medium used to subscribe (online). If you believe you were charged in error, contact admin@trainrun.io within 30 days.
9. Price Changes
We may change subscription prices with at least 30 days advance notice. Price changes take effect at the start of your next billing period after the notice period. If you do not agree to a price change, you may cancel before it takes effect.
10. YouTube Content
When you provide a YouTube URL, TrainRun embeds the official YouTube player and extracts captions for gameplay. We comply with the YouTube API Services Terms of Service and Required Minimum Functionality. YouTube's own Terms of Service and Google Privacy Policy apply to the embedded player. We do not download, store, or redistribute YouTube video or audio content — playback uses the official YouTube IFrame Player API exclusively. You can revoke TrainRun's access to YouTube data at any time via Google's security settings (https://myaccount.google.com/permissions).
11. AI-Generated Content
TrainRun uses AI to generate learning materials, quizzes, summaries, and study aids. AI-generated content may contain inaccuracies or omissions and should be used as a learning aid rather than an authoritative source. We do not guarantee the accuracy, completeness, or suitability of AI-generated content for any purpose. Quizzes are designed using evidence-based learning principles such as retrieval practice and spaced reinforcement, but they are not a substitute for professional instruction, certification, or accredited education. You can report inaccurate or problematic questions directly from any quiz.
12. Service Availability
TrainRun is provided as-is, without warranty. We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We are not liable for any loss or damage resulting from service interruptions.
13. Deletion and Data Recovery
When you delete a module or group, it is moved to your Archive and can be restored within 7 days. After 7 days, it is permanently removed and cannot be recovered. You may delete your account at any time through Settings. Upon account deletion, all personal data including modules, groups, runs, and generated audio will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
14. Termination
We may terminate or suspend your account at our sole discretion for violations of these terms. If your account is terminated, any active subscription will be canceled and no further charges will occur.
15. Governing Law
These terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States. For EU/EEA residents, nothing in these terms affects your statutory consumer rights under applicable EU law, including the right to withdraw from a distance contract within 14 days of purchase where applicable.
16. Copyright & DMCA
TrainRun respects intellectual property rights. If you believe content on TrainRun infringes your copyright, you may submit a DMCA takedown notice to admin@trainrun.io. Your notice must include: identification of the copyrighted work, identification of the infringing material with enough detail for us to locate it, your contact information, a statement of good faith belief that the use is not authorized, and a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and you are the rights owner or authorized to act on their behalf. We will respond to valid notices promptly and may remove or disable access to the material in question.
